Now I am not going to start philosophising in my old age, but, just this one, I tell you life is time, interspersed by only a very few moments that are memorable or beautiful and this is one of the best for me. Something I shall not forget. A very proud moment when some very famous people presented me with a medal that they had made themselves form an old can lid. Presenters are Huge Love (only the hand showing), Carol Page, Jim Harrison, Barbara Barbara and Paul Leatherdale.Ray Duckworth taking the picture Another pleasure for me is the genuine expressions on their faces. Just look at Carol and Barbara. Great girls. The medal takes pride of place in my collection. I Thank you all.
COACHING
As far as coaching is concerned, I did the best I could for the sport. I went to the courses etc and eventually was appointed as Northern Regional Pistol coach.
I had some success in that three of my shooters reached international level, representing England and Great Britain. Vis John Callum, Derek Grey, and Laura Ellsworth.
John and Derek both shot for England. Laura shot for England and Great Britain. Laura could have been World champion and Olympic champion, A bundle of talent, but like so many gifted people, they sometimes loose their way. A great pity, in any case the government banned pistol competition in this country, so it was all in vein. Laura did however become European Champion and was no doubt a great talent.
