First I used distilled water and it became cloudy, then I used Alhambra drinking water, it was clear, but my fish (guppies and an algea eater) died within a week. What am I doing wrong?

My pond is now 6weeks old (1,000 gals)and iam struggling with PH problems.Previous readings (Hozelock tester pot)8.4.I drained 1/3%of my pond but before refilling i gave 3 coats of G4 pond sealer to the areas where i had concreted. 2 weeks later after using a PH adjuster my readings dropped to 7.8 which is acceptable, my reading to day is 8.0 caution. Has anybody got any idea what i need to do next.
Thanks Graham.

My name is Edmund Marco and it's a pleasure to sign your guest book. I work for an advertising agency in London. Our agency represents direct marketing companies that are involved in the marketing of products as seen on TV in England. Most of the infomercial products come from the U.S. but then again we export our talents as well. My brother has appeared in infomercials in the U.S. advertising various products. I think it's hilarious that English people respond so well to American products while Americans tend to respond well to sales people who have an English accent! none.

Hello, In my garden pond, I have a variety of Fancy Japanese Goldfish - Incl. a Fantail. All the fish seem healthy and active. The Fantail has changed from being entirely black to a orange/gold on most of its' body with a little black on its' back with tail being completely black. Has this fish just matured (it is about 18 months old)or are these indications of desease? Kevin.

I am in New York, and am planning a rectanular (6' x 3') pond in a formal garden. The only fiberglass rectangular shell I can find that size is 20" deep. Is that deep enough for fish to survive the winter? And, if anyone knows a supplier for a deeper shell that size please let me know! Thanks

I just started a freshwater garden pond about 2 months ago. We just noticed some of the fish have cloudy eyes, a white film but most of all red spots and hemorrhaging. We just lost three and the rest don't look good. Water tested great.

Anybody know where I can get some "Pond Clear"? It's a heavy white powder, comes in a white paper bag, and keeps algae from taking over ponds. You just place the bag in the bottom of the pond and forget it. Lasts about 6 months. Sure appreciate any help you can give.

THREE QUESTIONS.
1. WHAT KIND OF PLANTS CAN I PLACE IN MY COLDWATER TANK? WITH MY GOLDFISH?
2. WHY DO SHARKS SLEEP IN A HORIZONTAL POSITION? HE SLEEPS IN THE PLANT WITH HIS TAIL AT THE BOTTOM AND HIS HEAD AT THE TOP.
3. MY GOURAMIS ARE FIGHTING EVERY NOW AND THEN. I THINK THAT THEY MAY BE MALES. NEITHER ONE HAS REALLY HURT EITHER ONE YET. SHOULD I SEPERATE THEM? OR ADD A DIVIDER IN THE TANK? IT'S A SIXTY GALLON LONG TANK. AND I HAVE SIXTY INCHES OF FISH IN THERE. I ADDED ALL THE ADULT SIZES TOGETHER.

THANKS FOR ANY INFORMATION, DREA

My small fish pond (10' x 14' - about 1800 gallons) has a ph problem. The ph reads 6.0. My pond store is not yet open for the season. Is there anything that I can use around the house to raise the ph?

I am trying to find import data for the UK for 1999/2000 to establish any trends in the market for ornamental fish. I am reasearching the expansion of the trade in the Maldives and their relationship with Sri-Lanka for a essay as part of my MSc. in Tropical coastal management at the university of Newcastle. Can anyone help?

Just about to complete pond (200sqft)with a waterfall. Live in area of long cool winters (-18 degrees C) and am considering putting in fish. Have a friend that had a larger pond which lacked falls, filters or pumps and was able to keep the pond year-round without problems. However, the pond was considerably larger than my own, about 3X. Can anyone advise on how to have fish with a minimum of problem and paraphenalia? Thks. paddy'O

Hello can anyone tell me how to bread guppys.
SHARKY

Sharky <shar@ global.co.uk>
GUPPYS are not too hard to breed. The best way is to have a tank full of plants and put your females in,KEEP THEM WELL FED,change a lot of water,25% per day is not too much,You will soon have hundreds of them.
