TICKLE MANX NORTON 500cc T5

A LOT MORE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW.

A FEW PICTURES OF THE T5 NORTON FRAME NUMBER 101 AND INEVITABLE MEMORIES OF THOSE TIMES.

I rode one of these in about 1971 on loan from John at the TT of that year, sorry I can not remember the exact year, I think it was 1971, but I do have a finishers medal in a glass case for it.Trouble is the date is on the back and the medal is stuck in there, anyway below is a picture of it. I am just going to put up all of the pictures I have relating to John and the T5 up here, in no particular order, some from the net of other Tickle Nortons and parts, just not enough hours in the day to do a proper job here yet, but will get around to it someday soon. I have had the bike for some time now and am on restoring it. The one I rode was black, this one is green, but I note that under the green paint there is some black paint. Looks like frame number 101 on the stearing headstock, but I have not removed the paint yet, so it could be something different when I get a good look at it. If anone can let me know the manx John took to the island on his boat that year, I would be greatful.

This one is definitely down to John as without his help, and a little from Albert Moule, I would not have it.
To cut a long story short John gave me a gearbox for my old ex Surtees Manx and even let me qualify on one of his own Nortons while he fixed mine.
Albert (traveling marshal) at the TT at that time, held back behind me up the mountain on the last lap, on my ailing Manx,
allowing me a finishers, hence the medal shown, all down to those great fellows. I Thank you.
Just remembered 110 started that year and only 31 finished. Thats the island for you, well it was in those days anyway.

This is Albert at the 1974 TT on his Triumph.
I remember him being a gentleman and a great character in the 1960's when he was teaching me the right lines to use around the course
and I also remember his great humour back at the hotel bar in the evening.
